The Art & Environment Ministry decorates the church for the different liturgical seasons of the year and for various liturgical celebrations.
"Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion" is the formal title of laypeople who distribute the Eucharist during Mass. The USCCB explains:
In every celebration of the Eucharist, there should be a sufficient number of ministers of Holy Communion so that it may be distributed in a reverent and orderly manner. Bishops, priests and deacons distribute Holy Communion in virtue of their office as ordinary ministers of the Body and Blood of the Lord. (1) When the size of the congregation or the incapacity of the bishop, priest, or deacon requires it, the celebrant may be assisted by other bishops, priests, or deacons. If such ordinary ministers of Holy Communion are not present, "the priest may call upon extraordinary ministers to assist him, i.e., duly instituted acolytes or even other faithful who have been deputed for this purpose. In case of necessity, the priest may also depute suitable faithful for this single occasion (GIRM 162)."

Those who proclaim God’s word in the liturgy are known as Lectors. It is an ancient teaching in the Church that Christ is truly present in His Word: the Word that is spoken, heard and acted upon. Answering the call to become a Lector, enters one into a deeper relationship with God as he is revealed in Sacred Scripture.
Those participating in the Lector ministry are called to proclaim the Word of God for Masses offered on Saturday, Sundays, Holy Days, and other special services throughout the Church year. Lectors also offer the Prayers of the Faithful. .
To be a lector is a commitment of service. A willingness to study the Scriptures and time to pray with the readings before each liturgical assignment are necessary commitments for a Lector. Training is provided.
If you would like to find out more about being a Lector, please contact Horace Turner at 508-393-5340.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as you teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God" - Colossians 3:16
Music is of paramount importance to our worship experience here at St. Bernadette Parish. We do not view the music ministry as a chance to perform; rather, it is an opportunity to meditate deeply on the Word while also acting as Witnesses for the rest of the congregation. No prior musical experience nor the ability to read music is required to join our ministry. Simply come with your enthusiasm and a willingness to try new things!
The Sanctuary Choir sings at every other 11:00 AM Mass on Sundays. We rehearse beginning at 10:15 AM prior to the Masses that we sing. Our repetoire of music typically consists of traditional hymns and songs. On special Holy Days, choristers also have the opportunity to ring hand chimes. Anyone of high school age or older is welcome to participate.
The Praise & Worship Ensemble accompanies the 5:00 PM Mass every week on Saturdays. We rehearse on Saturdays at 4:00 PM, prior to Mass. Our repetoire typically consists of contemporary worship music. Both singers and instrumentalists of middle school age or older are welcome to participate.
Cantor Ministry: Cantors lead the congregation in song at the 9:00 AM Mass and every other 11:00 AM Mass on Sundays. New cantors will receive training from the Director of Music regarding prayerful singing, congregational leadership, and vocal technique. Anyone of high school age or older is welcome to participate.
