February here at St. Bernadette Parish always brings a special celebration in our parish community. This year we celebrate the 31st Anniversary of our parish novena to our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette. Nine days of grace and prayer! It is a beautiful way to pray together as families for families, friends, and all in need of our prayers and a wonderful way to get ready for the season of Lent.
During the Novena we share nine continuous days of prayer to God, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, and our parish patron saint, St. Bernadette. A great way to engage our families in prayer is asking our family members who would you like to pray for during this novena? Have your children or grandchildren make and send a card to the person they are praying for.
Attached below are a few activities for children and a video about Lourdes for adults by Bishop Barron and a favorite here at St. Bernadette, The Princess of Lourdes for children. You might also enjoy the classic movie The Song of Bernadette which you can find it online for free. We have included prayers for the Novena and prayers for the rosary as well. We hope you enjoy the activities and join us each evening for the novena, February 10th through February 18th at 7pm here at St. Bernadette.
Let us pray together:
NOVENA PRAYER
O Ever Immaculate Virgin,/ Mother of mercy,/ health of the sick,/ refuge of sinners,/ comfort of the afflicted,/ you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings;/ deign to cast upon me a look of mercy./ By appearing in the Grotto of Lourdes to Bernadette,/ you were pleased to make it a privileged sanctuary,/ from where you dispense your favors,/ and already many sufferers have obtained the cure of their infirmities,/ both spiritual and corporal,/ I come, therefore, with confidence,/ to implore your maternal intercession./ Obtain, O loving Mother, the grant of my requests. I will endeavor to imitate your virtues that I may one day share your glory,/ and bless you in eternity. Amen.
